THE 1878 MILWAUKEE GRAYS
May 7, 1878 at Indianapolis
Grays tie the Blues, 2-2
Season record: 0-3-1
Owing to the threatening aspect of the weather the game here, today, began an
hour later than announced. The attendance was fair, and the game unusually
interesting, from the fact that the clubs seemed to be equally matched. The
Milwaukees proved strong at the bat, but the Indianapolis made the only earned run. At the
end of the ten innings the score stood, 2 to 2, and was called on account of
darkness. [note: both the Grays and Indianapolis Blues were the only winless
teams, sharing the same record.]
Notable
- The
box score is hard to read, but looks like Milwaukee had 8 errors – four by the pitcher Weaver – while
Indianapolis had
10 errors. I guess no surprise why both were winless. No one had more than one
hit for the Grays. |
