MILWAUKEE GRAYS 8
GREENBUSH DEAD CITYS 8
May 16, 2010 at the Wade House
The weather was perfect - although maybe a little warm for those wearing wool - and as usual Greenbush and the residents at the Wade House provided wonderful hospitality.
The only damper on the day was Skeeter suffering a broken finger while catching a fly ball. Skeeter played on for a while with the injury, but eventually needed to ice down the swelling. We can only hope he heals fast!
Each team suffered an out at the hands of rule 16 - which states you cannot advance on a foul, and can be caught dead if the pitcher gets the ball back and fires over to the base where the runner once was.
The teams tried to break the deadlock, but after 13 innings it was ruled a tie.
The contest also featured a return of Grays captain Smokey, who missed most of 2009 with an injury. Huzzah!
We also had a name change, as for the second time in his young Grays career, Sprinter split the seam in his pants. And thus he is now Split Seam.
The statistics for the Grays were as follows:
Spike: 2-7
Split Seam: 6-7, 3 runs
Smokey: 2-7, 2 runs
Skeeter: 2-4, 2b, 2 runs, 2 RBI
Sparky: 5-6, 3 2b, run, 4 RBI
Preacher: 3-6, RBI
Old Dog: 2-7, RBI
Dead Pull:
2-7
Lefty: 0-6 |
