Explanation of nickname:  My family has a long line of ballplayers named skeeter. Skeeter Blue was my pop, he played second base for the Mudville Chickens. Old Skeeter Blue was my gramps. He pitched for the Yuma Rebels even though he lost both thumbs in WWII. His pop, Winston Skeeter Blue played semi-pro ball in the Alaskan League until he was 73. He hit .311 that year and was so disgusted that he called hit quits.
